Moral education to be introduced in schools: DyCM

JAMMU, Apr 9: Reiterating his resolve to revamp the Education Department, the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today announced that moral education would soon be introduced in schools.
While addressing  in ‘Annual Lecturers Day’ function, here today, he said that besides introducing chapters on moral education in syllabi books, the subject would  be preached during the morning prayer’s time.
Stating that more promotions were on anvil in the Education Department, Tara Chand also announced that the minimum stay at the place after promotion was being decreased from two years to one year so that the employees may not hesitate to join remote postings.
The Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, also addressed on the occasion and stressed that moral education was need of the hour. “A doctor, engineer or any other person is of no use to the society if he lacks moral values and qualities of a good citizen,” he said.
Feroz Khan, Minister of State for Education, R A Inquallabi, Addl Secretary School Education Department, also spoke on the occasion.
More than 1000 delegates participated in the function, which was organized by All J&K Plus Two Lecturers Forum.
Earlier, the function started with lighting of traditional lamp and “Pledge of Conscious” to redouble the efforts to bring the desirable improvements in the field of education.
The speakers expressed their views on the importance of the days and discussed at length the functioning of the School Education Department with special focus on the role of Plus 2 Cadre in the development of education in the State.
They also highlighted the demands, which include benefit of running pattern to the Plus 2 lecturers, regularization of Principals, CEOs, Joint Directors and lecturers, re-organization of the department with creation of separate Directorates at Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Level with a Director General at State Level, upgradation of Higher Secondary Schools as “Intermediate Colleges in the State” and non vocational status in favour of Plus 2 Principals.
The House also passed twelve resolutions focusing on academic areas, functioning of BOSE, infrastructural facilities, etc.
In his address, N S Jamwal, State president of the Forum, said that the day provides an opportunity to exhibit a show of strength, unity, determination, self introspection, accountability and above all to review the overall scenario in the field of education.
Dr Manzoor Ahmed president Kashmir Province, elaborated efforts of the Forum for maintaining an exemplary coordination throughout the State.
