DODA, June 2: The authorities have turned a blind eye towards re-construction of a Government school, which collapsed due to earthquake around 4 years back.
As per reports, Government Primary School (GPS) at Chabber was catering to the needs of students living in Chabber and its adjoining villages.
Around four years back, the school building developed cracks due to earthquake and was declared unsafe.
The students, who were studying in this institution, were shifted to Government High School Malwana. Due to bad road connectivity, the students face manifold problems to reach GHS Malwana.
Local residents informed that around 50 students were studying in GPS at Chabber and when its building developed cracks due to earthquake around 4 years back and was declared unsafe, all the students were shifted to GHS Malwana.
The students have to go on foot to reach GHS Malwana, which is around 4 kilometers away from village Chabber, the residents said, adding that despite assurances from the concerned authorities, no step has been taken to re-construct the building of GPS Chabber.
The residents demanded re-construction of GPS at Chabber for the benefit of the students.
When contacted Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Gundna Mohammad Shafi Rishi told the EXCELSIOR that building of GPS Chabber was damaged due to earthquake around four years back and the students of this institution were shifted to GHS Malwana so that their studies don’t hamper.
“I will take up the issue of re-construction of GPS Chabber with the higher authorities in the shortest possible time”, he asserted.
