JAMMU, June 3: J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (JKEJAC-R) has urged upon the J&K UT Administration to frame a comprehensive wage and regularization policy for the daily rated/ consolidated workers.
While talking to reporters here today, president of the Committee Babu Hussain Malik said that thounsands of daily rated consolidated workers have been engaged by the Government in different departments since long. Some workers are in service for the last over 20 years. They are the most exploited lot. Many of them are unpaid for the months but are being made to work without wages.
It is unfortunate that there is no comprehensive policy for their regularization and wage payments. Hussain said there would be around one lakh such workers in the J&K UT. The Government drafted a new policy under SRO 520 but it was rejected by the EJAC and many unions and Associations of the workers. He demanded that the Government must frame a new policy for their regularization and wage payment. EJAC also demanded removal of pay anomalies of the clerical cadre , release of pending DA installments and revocation of SRO 202 and 24.
Senior members Yash Pal Sharma, Kulwant Singh and Darshan Magotra also accompanied.
