JAMMU, June 3: Consequent upon closure of the higher education institutions due to COVID-19, Vikas Badhoria State general secretary of National Students Union of India (NSUI) today demanded mass promotion of all the students enrolled in University of Jammu, Govt Degree Colleges and others universities of J&K.
In a press statement here, Badhoria expressed deep concern over the pathetic plight of students in the higher education and said that few days ago a memorandum was also submitted to Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University requesting him to allow mass promotion of all the undergraduate and postgraduate students as a relief to them due to the unpredictable circumstances of Coronavirus which led to closure of these institutions for the last over two and half months.
“Although the Universities and Govt Degree Colleges have started the campaign of online classes to the students, but this exercise has proved to be half hearted and futile due to non availability of high speed internet,” he said.
Badhoria appealed the Lieutenant Governor to intervene in the matter for allowing mass promotion of all the students studying in Higher Education Department as a welfare gesture in the overall interest of students.
