Make all arrangements for Amarnath Yatra by June 20: Vohra

JAMMU : Governor N N Vohra has asked the officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements for this year’s Amarnath Yatra are in place by June 20.
Vohra, who was on a visit to the Yatri Nivas at Bhagwati Nagar here yesterday, stressed upon adequate infrastructure for electricity supply, sanitation, medical and transport facilities, an official spokesperson said.
“Ensure the best possible arrangements for the stay and onward movement of the pilgrims,” Vohra asked the officers, directing them to undertake regular reviews to ensure its timely completion.
He also asked them to make sure that the wayside transit arrangements from Lakhanpur to Banihal and from Banihal to the Nunwan and Baltal Base Camps are completed in the stipulated time-frame.
The annual Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence on June 28, and will conclude on August 21.
During his visit, the Governor was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary (Tourism and Culture) Atal Dulloo and Principal Secretary to the Governor and Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board CEO Navin K Choudhary.
Meanwhile, the shrine board CEO has said to facilitate the work of security forces deployed at the access control gates at Baltal and Chandanwari, the board has decided to issue separate Yatra permits for each day and route. (Agencies)
