Police rescues 24 bovines, arrests 4 smugglers

UDHAMPUR, Apr 10: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police today rescued 24 animals and arrested four persons in this connection.
The smuggling bid was foiled by a police party from Police Post Tikri, led by Nishant Gupta, under the supervision of Incharge SSP Udhampur Benam Tosh.
Reports said that acting on specific information, the police team laid a naka on the National Highway near Tikri and intercepted two bovine loaded trucks bearing registration number JK02Q-0586 and JK02AG-6587.
Even as drivers of these trucks tried to flee along with the vehicles, Police chased them and arrested. During search of the vehicles, 24 bovine animals,  being smuggled towards Kashmir valley, were rescued.
The arrested smugglers were identified as  Abdul Rashid son of Mohd Sharief of   Kansipatta Reasi,  Hussian Din son of  Noor Ali of  Gangyal Jammu, Mohd Rafiq son of  Mohd Hussian of  Nagrota Khanpur  Nai Basti Jammu  and  Mohd Fareed son of Mohd Yousaf of Maitra Ramban.
Police have seized both the trucks and registered a case in this connection at Rehmbal Police Station.
During interrogation, these bovine smugglers revealed that the vehicles were loaded from Gangyal, Jammu.
