ICDS Supervisors without salary for 20 months

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 8: Over fifty Anganwadi workers from Jammu province promoted as Supervisors during 2017 are without salary for the last more than 20 months.
The aggrieved Supervisors told the Excelsior that while the Anganwadi workers promoted in Kashmir Division were granted pay of the Supervisors from the very next month of their promotions, those hailing from Jammu region are still waiting for the clear orders in this regard from the senior officials.
They pointed out that concerned District Officers were forcing them to take the salary of the Anganwadi workers which is most unfair and great injustice with them. All the promotees have refused to take that salary, as they were now performing the duty of supervisors. They have been even deployed by the authorities on Covid-19 duties and conducting survey as well in different localities.
It is unfortunate that officers at the helm of affairs, did not implement High Court order with regard to release of their salaries. They sought the intervention of Lt Governor into the matter and said that victimization and exploitation of the female employees be stopped immediately. They have been forced to face starvation by the UT Administration, one of the employees said.
