Working still smashed, liquor seized, 4 held

POONCH, June 10: The police nabbed one person along with 39 bottles of liquor from Mandi area of Poonch while arrested three persons at a working still in Nowshera area of Rajouri district today.
Police said that a team of police headed by Station House Officer Mandi, Tilak Raj under the supervision of Deputy SP, Headquarter Mudassir Hussain under the overall supervision of SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral was on routine patrolling at border Police Post, Sathra when a man was intercepted.
During frisking, 39 bottles of liquor bottles were seized from his possession.
Accused has been identified as Showkat Hussain, son of Punnu Jatt, resident of Gali Pindi who is working with GREF as a driver on temporary basis. The Police said to have registered a case under relevant sections of law in Mandi Police Station.
Meanwhile, the police team from Nowshera Police Station conducted a raid at village Patali and found three persons namely, Praveen Kumar, son of Rakesh Kumar; Pardeep Kumar and Naresh Kumar , both sons of Som Raj from Patali in Nowshera, involved in distillation of illicit liquor in the house. Five liters of illicit liquor and utensils used for distillation of liquor, were seized from the spot by the team. Nearly 150 liters of raw material/ Lahan was also destroyed on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No.102, under Excise Act has been registered against them at Nowshera Police Station.
