JAMMU, June 12: Congress leader and former Councillor Satish Sharma has demanded that small traders and street vendors be provided relief package without any more delay.
He said due to lock-down, all types of business establishments remained closed for about three months, after which the Government gave some relaxation but still there is no business at all.
Talking to reporters here today, Satish said if someone has been affected the most due to this lock down, then it is the poor labourers, middle- class, lower middle-class, small shopkeepers, hawkers and transport operators especially those who have only one matador or an auto- rickshaw to take care of their family. Therefore, the Government should announce a relief package for these people so that this section can also take care of itself and its family properly.
He said even though the Government has announced an economic package of 20 lakh crores, the poor and middle class have got nothing from that package. He said that these people who have been under lockdown for the last three months, have nothing left and have no income for survival. Even today, there are many such families in Jammu and Kashmir, whose houses does not have ration left to feed themselves.
Congress leader said now what the transporters have asked is justified. The Government should also provide relief package to them. He demanded that the electricity and water bills of the general public should be waived for 6 months because all the people of Jammu and Kashmir were sitting home unemployed in lock-down.
