LEH, June 12: The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal convened a meeting of religious organization heads of Leh with Executive Councillors of LAHDC, Leh in presence of Member Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal at Council Secretariat, here today to discuss the ongoing prevailing situation in Leh district due to sudden rise of COVID-19 cases in Leh district these days.
Taking a serious note of the abrupt rise in COVID-19 cases in Leh, the meeting discussed at length about various issues related to containment of COVID -19 spread in Leh district.
The issue of recent lapses in handling of COVID-19 positive cases in the district came up for discussion, besides the need for strict implementation of home quarantine especially by civil society in view of the limited reach and manpower of Administration and Police was also discussed. The meeting strongly felt the need for a comprehensive S.O.P as per the situation in UT Ladakh by involving all the stakeholders. The meet stressed that in such a pandemic situation, the responsibility of the civil society increases mani fold to assist the administration in containment of the various.
Later, CEC in a letter addressed to Lieutenant Governor Ladakh R K Mathur, requested his intervention in the matter on priority for framing of a comprehensive S.O.P by involving all the stakeholders at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by President Ladakh Buddhist Association PT Kunzang and President Christian community Dechen Chamga. President Anjuman Imamiya, Ashraf Ali Barcha and President Anjuman Moin Ul Islam, Dr Abdul Qayum attended the meeting through video conference.
