JAMMU, June 14: Former minister and senior Congress leader Mula Ram and DCC Jammu Rural president Hari Singh Chib criticized the J&K BJP leadership for its failure to do justice with the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with the continuation of SRO-202 policy.
In a statement issued here here former minister said that it can happen only in J&K. “While country’s most prestigious IAS officers, or even locally, KAS officers, on selection, remain on probation for two years including training period but the Class- IV appointees has 5 years’ probation. This unique ‘gift’ is given by the then BJP Government in June 2015 through SRO 202,” he said.
Mula Ram said that the SRO- 202 was introduced during the BJP regime which is not only obsolete but brazenly unconstitutional in nature. The five-year probation instead of two years with denial of increments is totally against the right to equality enjoyed by all other citizens across the country except for the residents of J&K. He asked what motivated the BJP ministers in the Cabinet during their tenure in J&K to agree to such an anti-youth measure?
While demanding immediate withdrawal of SRO 202, Hari Singh Chib described SRO-202 as unconstitutional and anti-youth and also amounting to grave injustice besides violation of principle of `Equal Pay for Equal Work’. He urged the Lt Governor to immediately withdraw the SRO forthwith and modify new rules without any delay and look into the matter on priority in the larger interest of employees.
Chib also raised serious concern over the forthcoming Toll Plazas in the Jammu region without following the NHAI norms. He asked the authorities concerned on what basis they are going to install another Toll Plaza in Akhnoor within the radius of 60 Km which is a sheer violation of norms.
The DCC president while quoting the guideline of NHAI, said “Any other Toll Plaza on the same section of National Highway and in the same direction shall not be established within a distance of 60 kilometers.”
Chib asked J&K BJP leadership not to take J&K people for granted as they had given a massive mandate to you (BJP) two-times in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections so it’s your moral responsibility to immediately revoke SRO-202 and also assure the people of Jammu that the upcoming toll plaza in Akhnoor will not be established in any condition.
