Samba police rescued 15 bovines, 73 in last fortnight

SAMBA, June 16: In continuance to its drive against bovine smuggling, Samba police rescued 73 bovines and arrested six bovine smugglers in last 15 days in the jurisdiction of Police Stations Ghagwal and Samba.
According to the report, today Ghagwal police rescued 15 bovine animals which were being smuggled to Kashmir Valley. A police party of P/S Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a truck bearing Registration number PB05S-9365 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley.
During checking of the vehicle, 15 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. The driver identified as Daljeet Singh, S/o Mangal Singh R/O Rasulpur, tehsil and district Amritsar has been arrested on spot.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 59/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
