BHaDeRWAH, June 21: Residents of Sartingal village here today staged a protest demonstration against the shortage of water for last some months.
Protesting villagers gathered at Sartingal-Sharekhi road and blocked it.
They alleged negligence of the authorities and raised slogans against PHE Department for ignoring their repeated requests for ensuring proper water supply.
The protestors raised slogans against PHE Department alleging that officers of the department are apathetic towards their woe.
They asked the administration to solve the drinking water problem within a day or two, else they will start hunger strike along with their children.
The protesting villagers informed that their repeated requests to the PHE Executive Engineer, Junior Engineer and Field Officers to address drinking water issue yielded no result.
“We are being forced to survive under severe water crisis since long,” said Rabia Bano-a resident of Sartingal.
When contacted XEN PHE Doda, Ajay Gupta said, “I am not aware of the issue but I will send a team headed by AEE there to immediately see the issue raised by the villagers.”
He assured that potable water supply to Sartingal village will be restored at the earliest and if any of his staff found guilty of dereliction of duty then he will be taken to task.
