JAMMU, June 23: Reiterating their demand that government should appoint Nodal Officer for package and non package employees working in Kashmir Valley so that grievances of employees could be redressed in a time bound manner, All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) has sought an action against officials who are habitual of harassing package employees on pretext of one reason or the other.
Expressing serious concern over the ill conduct of few officials, AMEAK president Rubon Saproo has made an appeal to Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu and Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam to initiate an action against such officials who are known for their irksome behaviour towards package employees.
“Everyone knows that migrant employees working in the Valley have families in Jammu and with the result on many occasions these employees have to move out of the Valley to join their families. So, it is not possible for them to obtain station permission every time,” he said and added omission of station leave permission for package employees which is being misused by few officials to exploit employees.
Alleging harassment, he said a teacher was put under suspension and others were called back from Jammu during COVID- 19 by some school heads despite the fact that they were performing duties by taking online classes daily. He also urged the Government to frame a transfer policy for package employees so that they can avail an opportunity to work in a district where their families are residing.
Demanding the appointment of Nodal Officer of the gazetted cadre and establishment of a separate Grievance Cell for migrant employees in the Valley, he said that such a step could lighter their tension to a great extent.
Senior vice president of the Association, Rakesh Pandita demanded that authorities should provide an accommodation to package and non package employees at par with Secretariat employees till the completion of transit accommodation as it is not possible for employees to pay huge rent. He also demanded enhancement in casual leaves for package and non package employees from 15 to 30 days.
