2 COVID-19 +ve die in Valley, J&K tally 87

Srinagar, June 23: Two COVID-19 positive persons with underlying aliments today died in Kashmir taking the number of such deaths in Kashmir to 87 while 24 Army personnel, seven police men and four pregnant women were among 112 fresh cases of coronavirus in the Valley.
An 85-year-old COVID-19 positive man from Kulgam district of South Kashmir died at SKIMS Soura today.
A resident of Kadar Kulgam, the patient was a known case of “complete heart block with hypertension”. He was on temporary pacemaker. He was admitted to the hospital on June 5 and died at 8:15 a.m today.
Last night an 58-year-old COVID-19 positive woman from Natipora area of Srinagar died here. The woman was diabetic, hypertensive and had bilateral pneumonia. She was shifted from SMHS last evening to CD hospital where she died.
So far, 87 COVID-19 positive people have died in J&K, 10 from Jammu and 87 from the Valley.
Srinagar district with 20 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 13, Kulgam 11, Shopian 10, six each in Budgam and Anantnag, Kupwara 5, Pulwama four while one death has been reported from Bandipora.
Today, 112 people tested Coronavirus positive in Kashmir including 74 at SKIMS Soura, 30 at CD hospital and eight at SKIMS Bemina Virology Laboratories.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 1497 samples were processed at the Viral Diagnostic lab of the hospital today and 74 tested positive for the virus. Among them, 45 are from Pulwama, 15 Kulgam, six Anantnag, five Bandipora, two from Baramulla and one from Srinagar.
They also include 24 Army personnel including 13 from 42 RR of Army based at Rajpora Pulwama, two each from 43 RR, 44 RR, 45 RR and 46 RR of Army based at Rajpora Pulwama and 3 from 47 RR, 48 RR and 49 RR based at Rajpora Pulwama respectively.
An official said that 753 samples were processed at the CD hospital Virology Laboratory in Srinagar today and 30 tested positive. They include 5 police men from Police Training College Manigam Ganderbal and two from DPL Baramulla.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo, told Excelsior that out of 557 samples processed at the hospital’s Virology Lab, eight tested positive for COVID-19. Of them, six are from Srinagar and two Budgam.
Meanwhile, 60 COVID-19 patients recovered from Kashmir and were discharged from the hospital. So far 3642 people -873 from Jammu division and 2769 from Kashmir have recovered while 87people-77 from Valley and 10 from Jammu have died.
