CUJ organizes special web lecture

JAMMU, June 24: Centre for Comparative Religions and Civilizations (CCRC), Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized a special web lecture on the 67th death anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
Prof Kuldip Chand Agnihotri, Vice-Chancellor (VC), Central University of Himachal Pradesh was the chief guest while VC CUJ Prof Ashok Aima was the chairperson of this online event titled “Contribution of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee to the History of Jammu & Kashmir”.
The online session was started with welcome address by Dr Richa Kothari (Director I/c CCRC, CUJ and organizer of the event) which was further extended by Dr Ajay Kumar Singh.
In his address, Prof Aima said that Dr Mookerjee was one of the few members of the Constituent Assembly who strongly opposed the bill of giving special status to Jammu & Kashmir which later known as Article 370 of the Indian constitution. He also expressed his happiness on the scrapping of Article 370 and said it was Dr Mookerjee’s efforts which spread awareness against this article in the entire country.
Prof Agnihotri talked on Dr Mookerjee’s role in J&K. He also talked about controversial death of Dr Mookerjee. He said that abrogating Article 370 on 5th August, 2019 was the true homage to Dr Mookerjee by the present Indian Government.
Convener cum moderator of event, Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, CCRC and Assistant Dean Students’ Welfare, CUJ and Vishal Sharma (organizer of the event and CUJ in-charge, Students for Holistic Development of Humanity Jammu & Kashmir) were also present in the lecture.
The event concluded with vote of thanks presented by Ajay Sharma, National Co-ordinator Jammu Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC).
