JAMMU, June 24: Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella, today chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat to review pace of ongoing development projects under RUSA 1.0 and 2.0.
Threadbare discussion was held on construction of auditorium at GGM Science College Jammu, completion of balance works for construction of Auditorium at SP College Srinagar under creation of Cluster Universities, completion of balance works in respect of Professional Colleges at Janglot Kathua, Jammu and Safapora, Ganderbal under RUSA 1.0.
The meeting deliberated on the present status of completion of remaining works under the component “Infrastructure Grants to Colleges” in respect of GCW Kupwara, GCW Pampore, GDC Vail Larnoo, GDC Sunderbani, GDC, Thathri and GDC Mahore under RUSA 1.0. Besides, progress on utilization of Rs. 33.33 crore released under the component “Enhancing Quality and Excellence” of RUSA 2.0 in favour of University of Jammu for Curricular Reforms and Research Innovation, Campus development and upkeep, enhancing of ICT in teaching, learning examination and administration, Capacity Building for enhancing quality and excellence and students centric activities was also reviewed.
It has been decided in the meeting that to speed up the progress on utilization of Rs 8.50 crore released under the component “Faculty Improvement” in favour of University of Jammu for construction and renovation of Hosting the Building for Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) works at Athletic Track and its other components.
The meeting was informed that Rs 10 crore stands utilized and UC has been submitted under component of Infrastructure Grants to Universities.
Registrar, Jammu University has been directed to initiate construction activities at the earliest so that Rs 11.70 crore shall be released accordingly for basic works needed to be initiated for construction of new professional college at Poonch.
Commissioner Secretary was informed about completion of tendering process for construction of new Model Degree College at Padder Kishtwar works have been allotted to the contractors who would initiate works within week’s time and Rs. 5.40 cr released to the concerned Principal in this regard, similarly works have been initiated for Model Degree College at Vilgam Handwara.
The meeting also reviewed the physical and financial status of civil works under the component of Infrastructure Grants to Colleges and the concerned authorities informed that execution works have been restored almost at all the places of various Colleges.
Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary steps for expediting all ongoing construction works.
Among others Director RUSA, R K Bhat; Assistant Registrar, Jammu, Padda; Chief Engineer R&B Jammu; Deputy Director, (P) RUSA; FA/CAO Cluster University Jammu were present in the meeting besides Registrar Kashmir University, Dr Nisar, Registrar IUST Awantipura, Dr Rufaie, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir attended the meeting through video conferencing from Srinagar.
