DC State Taxes inspects vehicles, imposes penalty on erring traders

RAJOURI, June 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC), State Taxes, Enforcement Wing Jammu Samba range, Sanjay Gupta, randomly checked several vehicles at Murdapur in Rajouri and imposed penalty to the tune of Rs 37,820 on dealers whose vehicles were carrying goods without proper documents.
The drive against erring dealers was taken out under the instructions of Commissioner, State Taxes, PK Bhat and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration and Enforcement), Rifat Kohli.
During the drive, Sanjay Gupta intercepted various vehicles carrying goods for physical verification, scrutiny of tax invoices and electronic way (e-way) bills. The Deputy Commissioner detained the vehicles of M/s Shiv Brick Kiln and M/s Rajouri Crusher and also seized their record for scrutiny.
The dealers, whose vehicles were carrying goods without proper documents, were detained and penalty to the tune of Rs 37820 was imposed on them after scrutiny of tax invoices while few cases are under scrutiny.
DC State Taxes, Enforcement Wing Jammu-Samba Range appealed the owners of brick kilns and stone crushers to ensure generation of proper tax invoices and apply for registration of GSTIN number if their turnover is exceeding 40 lakhs per annum.
“The State Taxes Department shall continue inspection of conveyances carrying goods towards Rajouri-Poonch without proper tax invoices, e-way bills etc and penalized them under section 129 of CGST Act, so as to ensure that the genuine traders who fulfill/comply with all the GST rules are not hit by such malpractices” Gupta said and informed that around 3650 e-way bills were verified during this month.
The inspection team included State Taxes Officer, Enforcement Wing Rajouri-Poonch Range Ashiq Rafiq Malik, Inspector Vikas Sharma and other officials of the department.
