Cop, 5 family members feared drowned as car plunges into river in Kishtwar

JAMMU: A head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police and five members of the family are feared drowned as the car they were travelling in met with an accident and plunged into a River on Garh-Mansu road in Paddar area of Kishtwar district.

Police here said that a car on way from Garh towards Massu, driven by one Mulkh Raj (Head Constable) of Garh, this morning fell into the river Budh Nallah.

They said that he was travelling along with five family members and all feared drowned, adding, “Rescue operation was launched immediately but neither the vehicle nor any occupant has been traced so far.”

The drowned persons were identified as HC Mulkh Raj, son of Ram Nath, Muni Devi, Kailasha Devi (daughters), Anamika Devi,16, daughter of Chuni Lal, Sushalni alias Shallu,13, and Sonakshi alias Kaki,11, daughters of Narinder Kumar.

“We have engaged four to five different agencies in rescue operation but as of now nothing has been found,” Rajinder Singh Tara, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar here said.
