Who can be blamed for villagers of Sumb hill block in district Samba driven to drinking unhygienic and contaminated water since for over seven decades, the residents of this village and areas surrounding have not been provided with drinking water facilities. Local ponds, uncovered and untreated, are the only source of water to these villagers.
It is really astonishing that after lot of requests to authorities and follow up the concerned PHE Department laid pipes etc in the area concerned for providing safe drinking water to the residents of these villages and water did flow through the pipes but not beyond one day. So, call it a joke or sheer recklessness of the authorities, the position continues to be the same which existed before laying of pipes . Now, the position of hand pumps too is pathetic in that out of a 100 of them in number, only 25 are working. The authorities should look into the problem of not supplying of water and resolve it at an earlier date.
