JAMMU, June 26: Strongly condemning the forcibly land acquisition and possession of farmers’ land for semi-Ring Road in various villages of Tehsil Marh, former Minister and senior National Conference leader Ajay Sadhotra today said it depicts anti-farmer policies of BJP.
“It is a double speak. It is high handedness on the part of the Government which is not acceptable. Rule of Law must prevail as we are living in the world’s largest democracy, “Sadhotra added.
He said that most of the farmers have not got even a single penny of compensation as yet and their case has been recommended for National Lok Adalat by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu while J&K High Court has also given its judgment for compensation in similar cases in Kashmir.
Sadhotra alleged that Government has fixed very meager compensation as compared to compensation disbursed by the Telecommunication Department while acquiring the land for installing Towers in Marh Tehsil. The decision of the High Court of Kashmir Bench, has also been ignored, he added.
The NC leader said such inhuman act of the Government has created scared, sense of insecurity and atmosphere of mistrust which will lead to further alienation. Farmers are facing worst ever economic crisis while Government instead of providing any type of economic relief is adding to their miseries.
The former Minister sought adequate compensation for agricultural land of the people in Marh constituency. Sadhotra also demanded Anti Corruption Bureau enquiry into the disbursement of compensation and survey of the land required for construction of semi Ring Road in Jammu district.
