Srinagar, June 28: Several illegal structures that had been erected in Gulmarg were today demolished in presence of the Court Commissioner appointed by the High Court.
Several constructions, mostly built for residential purposes, were demolished, while the owners of these structures alleged that they were being targeted and that the officials were being selective.

It is pertinent to mention that a team led by the Registrar Judicial is in Gulmarg to identify illegally erected structures at various places over the time.
For the last several days, Registrar Judicial Masarat Shaheen along with assisting team has been inspecting various spots in the world-famous ski resort Gulmarg and has identified various illegal structures.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is a blanket ban on all sorts of constructions in Gulmarg.
Meanwhile, the residents whose residential structures were demolished said that the authorities close their eyes whenever a big-wig resorts to any violation. “They are after the poor; we have got nothing left now,” a resident said.
The officials said that wherever the illegal constructions have come up in Gulmarg, every structure-in violation-will be demolished and everyone should be treated equally.
