No PHE worker will be dis-engaged: INTUC chief

JAMMU, Apr 13: Indian National Trade Union chief J&K and president Water Works (PHE) Employees Association (Jammu province), Shiv Kumar Sharma today said that not even a single worker of PHE engaged as CP worker, daily wager or on need basis will be dis-engaged.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Sharma said that a deputation of his Association met the Minister for  PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control yesterday and discussed the issues of the PHE employees and  workers including those engaged after 1994. A charter of demands was also submitted to the Minister in this connection.
The INTUC leader said that the Minister has given assurance that no PHE worker engaged after 1994 on daily rate or consolidated wages will be dis-engaged. The Minister has also assured the deputation that all other demands will be considered favourably.
In the charter, the Association demanded that all the CP workers be converted into daily wagers and pending wages of  CP worker/ daily rated personnel be released without any delay. They also demanded that wages of skilled and semi-skilled workers should also be enhanced as already decided by the Government.  It also demanded early conduct of DPC of all cadre,  release of seniority list  which is pending for the last 6-7 years, review of transfer policy, repair of quarters/ tube wells, pump rooms, providing of identity proof to the workers and according time bound promotions with out delay.  It was stressed that DPC be conducted at least twice a year so that employees get justice.
It was further pointed out that many staff quarters and PHE pumping stations and structures at Tube wells were in dilapidated condition. Many of them were leaking  during rains. There is no much required furniture/ infrastructure for the workers deployed there. The Association demanded that funds be released for their repair and also some benches/ chairs etc be provided there besides making provision of emergency light.
