JAMMU, Apr 13: The indefinite Jan Andolan, the call of which was given by Jammu West Assembly Movement started today with a protest demonstration held here at New Plots.
A large number of people including traders of the area joined the protest in support of their demands. The irate people and traders while raising slogans in support of their demands warned to continue the struggle till demands are settled.
The protest was led by the president of Jammu West Assembly Movement Sunil Dimple. Addressing the protestors Dimple said that the main demand of the people of Jammu West is that the area by given district status and the constituency be bifurcated into two constituencies.
Accusing the Government of discrimination with the people of the constituency, he said being the largest constituency no proper attention was paid for its development in the last four years of coalition rule.
Dimple said the claims regarding development made by the Chief Minister are totally hollow and asked him to verify from the departments concerned whether in real sense development works were started on ground or not in the Jammu West Constituency.
