ACB produces challan against Dy Excise Commissioner in corruption case

JAMMU, June 30: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today produced chargesheet against Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the then Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, who was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe in December 2018.
Chargesheet against Syed Muried Hussain Shah of village Gursai in tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch, was produced in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu, in case FIR number 42/2018 P/S VOJ (now ACBJ) U/S 5 (1) (d) r/w 5 (2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 and section 4-A of PC Act 2006.
The instant case was registered on 21.12.2018 on a written complaint lodged by one Col H D S Rainal of Channi Himmat Jammu alleging that Syed Muried Hussain Shah, then Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu was demanding a bribe of Rs 2,00000 from him for renewal of his Wine Shop License No. 204/JKEL-02.
On receipt of the complaint, a trap was laid and said Dy Excise Commissioner was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 2, 00000 as illegal gratification from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses. The accused Dy Excise Commissioner was arrested on the spot and investigation was concluded as proved against the said accused for commission of offences U/S 5 (1) (d) r/w 5 (2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 and section 4-A of PC Act 2006.
After completion of investigation, the Challan against accused Dy Excise Commissioner was presented before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu for judicial determination.
