JAMMU, June 30: The dead body of a man missing since June 23 was recovered today from Ranbir Canal in Gadigarh area of city outskirts.
“Police Post Gadigarh received an information this afternoon that a decomposed body of an unknown man is flowing in Ranbir Canal in Dharap area near Gurudwara and immediately rushed a police team to the spot,” a police official said, adding, the police team fished out the dead body from the canal and shifted it to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for identification/postmortem.
He said that the deceased man was later identified as Ashok Kumar (45) son of Pyare Lal, resident of Rajpura Mangotrian, who went missing on June 23 from Shakti Nagar area. He said that a missing complaint of the deceased man stands registered in police station Bakshi Nagar on June 24.
“In this connection, inquest proceeding under 174 CrPC has been initiated to ascertain reason of death,” the official added.
