KATRA, June 30: Continuing its drive against drugs and illicit liquor in the holy town, Katra Police today arrested 2 drug peddlers and two bootleggers besides affecting recovery of intoxicants and illicit liquors.
During surprise naka at Ambika Chowk, Police arrested one Kartar Singh of Didi-Bhangal and recovered 570 Tramdol Capsules and 2080 Alprazolam tablets from his possession. Riding a Scooty (JK20-3251), the accused was on way towards Katra Bazar.
Besides arresting the accused, Police seized the recovered drugs as well as the Scooty. A case Fir number 101/2020 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra.
Reports further said that Police apprehended one person namely Mohd Razaq of village Sool- Tareen, Tehsil Katra, near SMVD University Gate No.1 Kakryal and recovered 500 grams of poppy straw from his possession. The accused was coming towards Katra from Dhirti side on a motorcycle, which was also seized. A case FIR No 104/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at P/S Katra against the accused.
A bootlegger, identified as Dev Raj of Serli, Katra District was intercepted by Police at Dadura-Panthal when he was on way to Katra and was carrying 20 Quarters (250/250ml each) of liquor J&K Excise . Police arrested the accused and seized the recovered liquor besides registered a case FIR No 106/2020 U/S 48 (f) at P/S Katra.
Another bootlegger, namely Sham Lal of Kundrorian- Katra, was arrested by Police at Dhirti-Kakryal and 21 number of quarters, each 250/250ml of JK Desi whisky, were recovered from his possession. A case FIR number 107/2020, under section 48 (f) was registered in this connection at Police Station Katra.
The arrests and recoveries were made SHO Katra, inspr Sunil Sharma, under the supervision of SDP Kuljeet Singh and SP Katra, Amit Bhasin.
