JAMMU, July 1: All Parties Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (APMCC) has expressed its serious concern over the plight of PM package employees working in Kashmir valley who were facing many hardships due to the apathetic attitude of authorities at the helm of affairs.
The APMCCC president, Vinod Pandit in a statement issued here, today said that despite the intervention of Lt Governor, G C Murmu asking the concerned authorities to look into the problems of the package employees’ and grant them station permission to visit their families in Jammu, the concerned officers continue to harass and humiliate them.
Pandita said that some officers have charge sheeted the package employees for visiting Jammu to look after their old aged and ailing parents who were in great distress and needed the attention of their children during the spread of Pandemic. He said some of the employees pay has been kept withheld despite the fact that during the lockdown period all the offices were closed in entire UT and no employee including the officers were attending the offices as per the instructions of the Government.
Pandita, while demanding that package employees be granted station permission to visit their families in Jammu, said the highhandedness on part of some officers is aimed at humiliate and harass them to force them to quit their jobs in Valley. This can be a part of a big conspiracy.
He sought an inquiry into the matter and alleged that some employees were being transferred in far flung areas especially in Social Welfare Department (SWD) putting their lives to grave risk in view of the recent killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch in Lokbhawan village of Anantnag district.
He also accused the Government of its failure in providing accommodation to package employees and solving their other problems. He alleged the bureaucracy instead of looking into their problems in an humanitarian way are rubbing salt on their wounds and compounding their problems further.
He said despite repeated pleas to the Government and taking the deputations to LG and other higher ups in Civil Secretariat they failed to look into the problems of the package employees who are facing problems every now and then.
