JAMMU, July 2: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (MULBPA), J&K today criticized the J&K Government for increasing passenger fares by 30% from June 24.
The issue was discussed thread bare in a telephonic meeting of the Association held today under the leadership of its president, B S Jamwal (Advocate). All the lower class pensioners in one voice said that the decision taken by the UT Government over passenger fares is too unjustified and beyond the pocket of poor class people and pensioners.
“On one hand, common man including pensioners are struggling to meet their both ends meet and on the other hand Government in Centre as well as UT level are continuing with anti-people policies,” they said, adding, earlier Modi Government freezed DA of pensioners up to ending 2021 and now the UT Government has increased passenger fares.
The pensioners also criticized the Central Government for enhancing the petrol and diesel prices continuously due to which prices of even essential commodities are touching sky. They also lambasted the Central Government for not extending the benefit of increasing medical allowance of pensioners at the rate of Rs 1000 per month despite conversion of J&K into union territories of J&K and Ladakh.
The meeting in one voice appealed the J&K Lt Governor GC Murmu to hear the voice of the lower class pensioners and poor class people and redress their burning problems and demands on priority.
KG Khajuria, BD Verma, JR Sharma, Balbir Singh Jamwal, Attar Singh, Jawaharlal Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma, YS Jamwal, JC Gupta, Tarsem Lal Gupta, ML Gupta, Bahu-ud-din, Tara Chand, SS Jamwal, SK Jamwal and DP Kotwal attended the meeting .
