JAMMU, July 4: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Sushma Chauhan, today reviewed the issuance of Domicile Certificate in all Tehsils of the District through a video conferencing meeting.
It was informed that over 12000 Domicile Certificates have been issued till date for which applications were received both online as well as offline.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the progress registered by the Tehsildars seen through high percentage of disposal of the domicile applications. It is pertinent to mention that the domicile certificates are being issued through S.O. 166 vide notification dt. 18-05-2020.
Asking the officers to facilitate the public in applying for domicile certificates by engaging the PRIs and other public representatives, she stressed on disseminating the information regarding procedural requirement for obtaining the same.
The Tehsildar were directed to create awareness amongst general public by displaying boards outside their offices depicting the procedure for applying for domicile certificate, in easy and understandable manner.
The Tehsildars, of the far off areas, informed that they are facing problem in disposal of online application due to internet connectivity.
Meanwhile, the Jamabandi writing was also reviewed in the meeting and the Tehsildars apprised the Deputy Commissioner that out of 915 villages, the writing of jamabandies of over 600 villages has been completed and the process is on to finish the task in remaining villages by the end of this month. The updated jamabandies are being digitized under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme and with its completion the revenue records of District Jammu shall be made available online in public domain.
