Restore consumer dispute redressal authorities: JKPCC

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 4: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee today demanded restoration of Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and District Consumer Fora at district level, as were existing in the erstwhile state of J&K.
In a statement issued here, convener, J&K RTI Cell, JKPCC, Advocate Bhavishya Sudan, said that the present dispensation is treating the people of Jammu and Kashmir as urchins by imposing one and the other unfavourable/anti people policies.
Sudan said that he had approached Secretary, Department of Food Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs, J&K, Lt Governor of J&K and even to Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan through detailed representation for seeking establishment/restoration of Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and District Consumer Fora in newly created UT of J&K but till date no step has been taken by the concerned authorities.
He further said that after reorganization/demotion of the erstwhile state of J&K into Union Territory, Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission was abolished due to which the general public is facing hardship as they have no commission/ forum for the redressal of their grievances.
He said that if the present Government fails to restore the authorities of Consumer Redressal in time bound period, the people shall be forced to hit the road for their basic right.
