SAMBA, July 6: In continuation with its tirade against the menace of illicit trade of drugs and liquor, district Police Samba arrested two bootleggers and recovered a total of 47 bottles of JK special whisky from their possession in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of PS Vijaypur and PS Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information regarding the sale of illicit liquor at Vijaypur town and in its adjoining areas, a police party of PS Vijaypur rushed to the spot and arrested one person namely Ravindera Jena, S/o Mohan Jeena R/O Mohulapalli, Kandarasingi, Ganjam-Bhanja Nagar, Odisha A/P Vijaypur, Samba from Vijaypur main market who was selling illicit liquor to the general public at exorbitant rates to gain illegitimate profit.
A total 30 bottles of JK Special Whisky (180 ml each) were recovered from the possession of the accused person. In this regard, a case FIR No. 119/2020 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
In another similar incident, a Police Party of PP Rajpura while performing naka duty at Lala Chak, Rajpura intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious ground.
While his frisking a total 17 bottles of JK special Whisky (11 bottles of 750 ml each & 06 bottles 180 ml each) of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession.
The accused person identified as Durges S/o Khirsay R/o Santpali-Bhawarpur, Mahasamund, Chattishgarh A/P Rajpura has been arrested and the contraband item was seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 70/2020 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
