UDHAMPUR, July 7: In a major success, Udhampur Police today apprehended a narcotics smuggler and seized 120 kg of poppy straw from his possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a truck bearing registration number PB02BV- 8258, which was intercepted by a Police party, led SHO Udhampur, Inspr Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Incharge SSP Udhampur and Dr Rohit Chadgal, Dy SP Hqrs Udhampur.
Police seized the recovered poppy straw and arrested the truck driver, identified as Angrez Singh son of Ajeet Singh of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
A case FIR number 302/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at PS Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
