IIT Jammu organizes webinar, institutes award

JAMMU, July 8: The IIT Jammu today organized a webinar which, started with an Introductory note by Associate Dean Student Activities, Dr. Vijay K Pal.
Dr. Pal briefed the Agenda that needs to be discussed. The session was organized on a Virtual Digital Platform, and all the faculties, Directors, as well as Staff Members from various educational institutes of J&K were invited to attend the session.
Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director IIT Jammu, introduced Prof. S K Jain in the webinar. He talked about various achievements made by Dr. Jain as well as his distinguished service in the field of Science and Engineering, for which he was awarded the Prestigious Padmashree Award.
Prof. Ashoke Sarkar, Dean Academics, briefed about an award that was introduced by Prof. S K Jain for the students of IIT Jammu in 2019. The Award as the name suggests “Leadership” talks about the leadership Initiative taken by the students of IIT Jammu during their academic session in the institute.
Prof. Ashoke Sarkar spoke on “What makes an Institute the Best in Itself is the Students of the Institute only,” Students at IIT Jammu are equipped with that only bookish knowledge but also with the real-time experiences and practical concepts. Amongst various deserving candidates, Aakar Sharma, student IIT Jammu, was nominated to receive this award. The student has shown exceptional leadership Qualities during his tenure at IIT Jammu.
Aakar Shared his experience towards the Panelists, as what takes a student to groom himself to be a leader and to lead people in a better direction. The challenges he faced and what learning he inherited to motivate others and make others understand better. Taking an end to his valuable experience, Dr. Pal Invited Prof. S K Jain to share his thoughts
Prof. Sk Jain spoke on most crucial topic of the session, i.e., “Opportunities in Building a new Institute.” Prof Jain Briefed about various Opportunities and capricious challenges that an Institute at a primitive stage faces for developing itself. He said that an Institute of prime Importance needs to overcome its barriers that restrain its growth also needs to be very useful in this functional operations. Taking into consideration the faculties, the staff of the institute has to have self-interest and plays a vital role in the development of the Institute.
Dr. Manoj Singh Gaur interacted with Prof. Jain and discussed the challenges faced as well as opportunities to take the Institute to the next level.
Dr. Vijay K Pal, of the event delivered the vote of thanks to all attendies. He also mentioned that so far this award has been framed for next 5 years where selected student can get a financial award of 20,000 per semester or in a year as per the recommendation of the committee.
