Trucker among 3 arrested with contraband

JAMMU, July 10: Three persons including a trucker were arrested with contraband including poppy straw, cannabis and heroin.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by Inspector Rajesh Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma laid a naka near Suketar and intercepted a truck bearing registration number HR61B-2324.
During checking, police team recovered 25 bags of poppy straw weighing 625 kilograms from the truck and arrested the driver, who was identified as Sukhvinder Singh, son of late Amar Singh of Alamgiri, Ludhiana Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 124/2020 under section 8/15/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Ramban during patrolling at Maitra intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 200 grams cannabis from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Joginder Singh, son of Sant Ram Thakur of Maitra Govindpura District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 107/2020 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation initiated.
However, a team from Narwal Police Post led by SI Vikas Jasrotia under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania, SDPO East Bikram Kumar and SP South Deepak Digra arrested a person identified as Shiva Soni, son of Pawan Soni of Peer Mitha with 3.5 grams of heroin.
A case under FIR Number 172/20 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Bahu Fort Police Station and investigation started.
