JAMMU, July 11: Executive Member of J&K BJP, Raman Suri today urged upon Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society to inspect entire Mubarak Mandi complex and check vulnerable areas to initiate measures to strengthen them all especially in the wake of ongoing monsoon season.
In a handout he stated that every rainy season damages the heritage complex.
Suri also said that Mubarak Mandi complex is of utmost importance and needs special care viz-a-viz its restoration and any laxity in this regard can damage it.
He demanded adequate arrangements in advance to save the heritage complex this rainy season from damage.
The BJP leader claimed that it takes restoration agencies years to restore a small portion of Mubarak Mandi but a rainy season destroys much larger portion of it thereby depriving us of our historic treasure.
He also expressed concern over delay in shifting of Dogra Museum artifacts to the new building and said damaged portion of existing building is likely to cause more damage to the paintings, artifacts and other manuscripts of the Museum.
Suri said, even Advisor Baseer Khan, during his visit to the complex had asked agencies to shift artifacts to a safe building but nothing has been done so far in this regard. “If these art pieces are not moved to safe place before incessant rains, things could turn disastrous,” he maintained demanding that Dogra Museum artifacts should be moved to new building as soon as possible to protect them.
