UDHAMPUR/ RAJOURI, July 15: The police seized 32 bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir in Udhampur and Rajouri area of Jammu region today.
Official sources said that during routine checking at Battal Morh, Police team from Majalta Police Station stopped one truck (Canter) bearing registration number UP78CL/ 1641 for checking. During search of the vehicle, 20 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle without any valid permission.
All the 20 bovine animals were rescued and bovine smugglers namely, Mohd Yasin, son of Mallu, from Dharampir Mohalla, UP and Mohd Irfan, son of Sarfuddin of Jalalabad, District Shamli, Uttar Pradesh (UP) were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Majalta and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Rajouri police foiled two separate smuggling bids and rescued 12 bovine animals during early hours today.
A team from Kalakote Police Station, led by SHO Sanjay Raina, intercepted a smuggler Mohd Farid, son of Nazir Ahmed from Saranoo area along with eight bovine animals. An FIR No. 59/ 2020 was registered against him.
Another police team from Manjakote led by SHO Pankaj Sharma, intercepted a vehicle No. JK11D/ 4702 and rescued four bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir. Driver of the vehicle Mohd Asif , son of Mohd Hussain and smuggler Mohd Naseer, son of Mohd Altaf were arrested. A case FIR No. 117/ 20 was registered against them.
