Snow avalanche kills 3

Srinagar, Apr 15: Three people were killed after a snow avalanche hit a village in Uri area of North Kashmir district of Baramulla district this afternoon.
Reports said that the incident took place at around 12.30 p.m. after some locals who were searching some herbs in the forests went to the avalanche prone area in Darra Kujjan, Boniyar in Uri.
The trio were buried under the avalanche as it struck the area when they were collecting herbs. As the news of avalanche reached the village, people rushed to the area for rescue.
The deceased were identified as Din Md Sood,64, Mohammad Lateef Sood, 30, and Abdul Karim, 55, all residents of Darra Kujjan, Boniyar.
Police and Army rushed to the area and recovered the bodies from the snow.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Khawja Ghulam Muhammad said that the area is a known avalanche prone and these people had risked their lives by venturing out there.
