Pandemic created existential crisis for poor: NC

SRINAGAR, July 17: National Conference (NC) has stated that COVID-19 pandemic has created existential crisis for the poor.
In a handout NC MP, Hasnain Masoodi said the government’s response to the aftermath of previous lockdown has been a failure and it was again using the same failed strategy to cope up with the crises.
On spike in cases of new infections and mortality he asked what went wrong in previous lockdowns and why didn’t the administration procured necessary life saving equipments since the first lockdown?
The MP claimed that the government was in know of the situation prevailing around the world and the data from the ground was also known to it, then why was the government not able to anticipate the spike in infections, given the fact that WHO and other national agencies had hinted towards such a large scale community level infectivity.
“We have been only seeing the government giving out a small amount of ration to the people to withstand crises,” he maintained adding that nothing substantial was done to alleviate the suffering of hoteliers, agriculturalists, traders and others.
