SAMBA, July 17: Residents of Ward No 7 and 8 of Vijaypur today staged strong protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) for its failure to supply electricity to the wards.
Fed up with the dilly-dallying tactics of the Department the people assembled and held a protest demonstration demanding immediate steps be taken to supply the power to the area.
The protestors said that on one hand the Government is launching many beneficial schemes for the public and on the other the authorities fail to implement them on ground with the result people are suffering a lot.
Addressing the media persons, protestors alleged that for the last few weeks the people of this area are facing lot of problems due to power fluctuation and unscheduled power cuts. The water supply has also been hit due to unscheduled and long duration power cuts, he added.
They said that during these hot Summer days, long and unscheduled power curtailment has made life miserable. They added that worst affected due to long duration and unscheduled power cuts are patients, old age persons and children. Later protestors met with SDM Vijaypur regarding their problem. SDM assured people to resolve the problem.
