MELBOURNE: “Hotel Mumbai”, a thriller set against the backdrop of 2008 terror attack on Taj Hotel in Mumbai, will open the Adelaide Film Festival on October 10.
The film, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film festival, features Anupam Kher, Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Bonaidi, Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Jason Isaacs. The story revolves around a group of people trapped in the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel during the attacks.
The film’s key creatives including South Australian director Anthony Maras and producer Julie Ryan will be in attendance, with additional special guests to be announced.
The event kicks off the festival’s curated 11-day programme of screenings and events. The full line-up of this year’s festival will be announced in the coming weeks.
”I am forever grateful for the unwavering support the Adelaide Film Festival has offered our project since day one.
“The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) and ADL Film Fest’s backing of ‘Hotel Mumbai’ enabled my home town of Adelaide to play a crucial role in the making of this truly international production, and allowed us to work again with so many amazing South Australian cast and crew. It could not be more fitting to premiere the film at AFF, and so soon after the world premiere at the Toronto international Film Festival,” Maras said in a statement. (AGENCIES)
