The Great Jammu is well known as City of Temples. This is the place where many great personalities have taken birth from time to time. Among them is T R Gupta.
His father Gourimal Gupta was a simple, pious, dedicated, honest and hard working man, who wanted his son to grow with all good qualities and reputation of lord RAMA, hence he named him as Tej Ram Gupta.
During his childhood his native village was bereft of any comfort and resources. Even there was no proper school, hence he got his primary education in a very dilapidated school building by sitting on bare ground of one room. He passed his matriculation from R.S. Pura District Jammu. Later he passed intermediate examination (12th Class) from Prince of Wales College (now Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College) Jammu in the year 1948.
With Philanthropic teachings and Socio/religious background, T.R. Gupta grew into a man personified as example of magnanimity, benevolence, compassion and determination. Hence he restarted the career as petty contractor in partnership with another contractor in 1957. Later on he started taking up bigger works first as partner in a partnership firm and later in his individual capacity like Ujh barrage, Lift Irrigation Tawi Canal from Bahu Fort to Channi.
