The priliminary report of the recent Channi Rama Home incident is very disturbing. Even the mentally challenged persons have not been spared from the exploitation. Such an immoral activity is shameful and unacceptable for our society and need to be dealt with an iron hand. Mentally challenged, orphan, disabled and other handicapped children need every possible help and sympathy from the common man in general and the Government in particular.
There is no doubt about it that many individuals, voluntary organisations and NGOs come forward to help such children. But it has been observed that majority of them do it purely to get earn money.
As a fact of matter Govt should grant permission to individuals, groups and NGOs to run such Homes only after thorough and proper verification.
Moreover, Social Welfare Department should constitute a team of honest and sincere officers for regular checking and auditing of such Homes in order to save hapless unfortunate children from the exploitation in future.
