A yatri from Maharastra dies, toll reaches 38

SRINAGAR : A yatri from Maharashtra died due to cardiac arrest on traditional Pahalgam-Amarnath cave route, taking the toll to 38 since the commencement of the 59-day pilgrimage from July 2.

A yatra official told that a 61-year-old yatri Kashinath Kulidi, resident of Maharashtra suffered a massive cardiac arrest at Panjterni on the traditional yatra route.

He was immediately rushed to medical camp where he was declared brought dead.     He said with this a total of 38 persons, mostly pilgrims, sevadars and security personnel, have lost their lives during the pilgrimage.

Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), however, has issued fresh directions to pilgrims, undertaking the pilgrimage, to take extra precautions before starting the journey towards the cave shrine. (AGENCIES)
