LEH, July 18: A meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee was held here under the chairmanship of Member Parliament, Thupstan Chewang.
Besides, Members of the Airport Advisory Committee the meeting was also attended by the former Minister and MLA, Leh, Nawang Rigzin Jora.
Several issues related to the security, welfare of passengers and expansion of Airport were discussed in detail. The meeting was informed that passenger traffic handled at Leh Airport during the year 2014-15 was around 4 lakh which is approximately 15 per cent increase as compared to the previous year. It was further informed that in view of the increased influx of traffic, a new terminal building is required.
The point of land transfer from IAF to AAI was the issue of main focus for which both the authorities consented for transfer of land for expanding the facilities.
