NEW DELHI: After playing a wrestler in his forthcoming film ‘Dangal’, superstar Aamir Khan will feature in the biopic on life of Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to venture in the outer space, trade sources said.
The sources said the film, to be produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s new production company RSVP, will be directed by debutant director Mahesh Mathai.
The yet untitled movie is expected to go on the floors by next year. Sources said the producers are aiming for a 2018 release for the film. Rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised.
The sources said Rakesh Sharma, who flew aboard Soyuz-11 in the month of April in 1984, will help the filmmakers in the process of preparing the script , right from his training to his eventual trip to the outer space. Aamir Khan will be next seen in ‘Dangal’, a biopic on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat.
The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is scheduled for a release on Christmas. (AGENCIES)
