Aamir meets Gehlot on female foeticide

JAIPUR, May 9:

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan today met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and pressed for speedy trial of female foeticide cases as promised in the first episode of his debut TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
“The CM has assured me that he will take it forward with the Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice so that a fast track Court is formed. Apart from that, he has assured me that the Government is already working on the issue and will continue to do so,” Aamir told reporters at a joint press meet with Gehlot.
“The CM told me that after watching the first episode, he had called a meeting of senior officials. It is an important issue for the entire country and he has decided to take it forward strongly,” the 47-year-old actor said.
In the first episode of his reality show aired on Sunday, Aamir had invited two journalists from Rajasthan who talked about their sting operation to expose doctors involved in female foeticide and how no action has been taken against them.
Gehlot, on his part, praised the actor for raising social issues like female foeticide.
“The show is true to its name. Aamir has started a movement. He has taken up an issue, which concerns entire country. The sting operation happened in Rajasthan 7-8 years ago but it was Aamir who brought their good work in front of the country.
“His show will bring people forward and make them think that female foeticide is something which is not good for the country, society or self,” the Chief Minister said.
Despite being a busy Bollywood star he has taken time out to raise these important issues, Gehlot said. (PTI)
