JAMMU, May 2: A book of Dogri songs, entitled, ‘Aao Geet Gachai’, was released by J&K Cultural Academy, here today.
Susheela Khajuria, wife of late Ram Nath Shastri, formally released the book in presence of Dr Ved Ghai, Prof Rita Jatendra and other literary personalities at K L Saigal Hall of the Academy.
Delivering her presidential address, Dr Ved Ghai appreciated the efforts of the Academy in promoting all the three spheres of Art, Culture and Languages of the State in a planned way and hoped that these efforts would definitely yield positive results in future.
Prof Rita Jatendra also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the Dogri writer and said launching of the book was another addition in treasure of her literary pursuits.
A musical programme, based on the songs of the book, was also arranged on the occasion. However, the programme began with a ‘Bagh’ of late Parduman Singh as a tribute to the legendry singer, who passed away yesterday,
A two-minute silence was also observed paying tributes to Parduman Singh.
A galaxy of littérateurs and literature lovers were present in the function.
Dr Rattan Lal Basotra conducted proceedings of the programme and also presented vote of thanks while Ashok Gupta was incharge of the programme.
