SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today asked Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) to clear its stand on statehood in Jammu and Kashmir which was promised from the floor of parliament by Home Minister Amit Shah.
Addressing a press conference on the issue, AAP senior leader Dr Nawab Nasir Aman said that restoration of statehood was promise to people of Jammu and Kashmir from the floor of parliament none other than Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“BJP Government had promised that first Delimitation will be conducted, than assembly elections will be held alongside will be the restoration of statehood,” Dr Nawab said, adding that uncertainty is now looming large over the promise.
“Will statehood be restored even if BJP fails to form next Government in J&K?,” Dr Nawab questioned stating that this is the question revolving around every single resident of J&K. “What if next Government in J&K is not formed by BJP. Will Union Government of BJP still restore statehood as promised?,” he said asking Government and especially Union Home Minister to clear this uncertainty.
He further mentioned that about 164 laws has been abolished in J&K since abrogation of Article 35-A and 370 and about more than 160 other laws yet to be abolished. Will the new Government in J&K be in a position to re-implement the laws abolished so far, he questioned, adding, this could be a point of concern for Union Government.
