JAMMU, Aug 21: Aam Adami Party (AAP) vice president Jammu-Poonch Parliament Constituency, Rajesh Gupta urged J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to waive off water and electricity bills for the financial year from March 2021 to March 2022 in view of second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
“The economic condition of J&K people has become pathetic due to strikes and lockdowns. The government must reciprocate with a lenient and humanitarian approach and waive off electric and water supply bills of this financial year,” he said.
Gupta was addressing new entrants into AAP here.
He said that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal offered free electricity upto 200 units, free water upto 20,000 litres, quality health services in government hospitals and quality education in government institutions to one and all.
The AAP leader cautioned the countrymen to reject the spent forces which exploited and deceived people in last 74 years and divided people for vote bank politics thereby weakening the unity and integrity of the nation.
He claimed that the government is duty bound to take initiatives for the welfare of people, especially in a situation like post-COVID era.
“People must be given respite under these disastrous circumstances,” he maintained.
